Pieter Kokx is a PHP software engineer. He made his first contact with programming around the age of 8, with QBasic. Later on, he created a simple website with HTML and some simple JavaScripts. After a lot of self-study, he learned the web development language PHP and started to develop websites with PHP. A few years ago, he started to use the Zend Framework and since then, he made some contributions, like the Zend_Markup component (included in ZF since 1.10).

Currently, Pieter is lead developer of the Firal CMS, and contributor to various Zend Framework components. Also, he is studying Computer Science at the Fontys University in the Netherlands.
